The South Beach Diet by Arthur Agatston, M.D. is the top Nonfiction bestseller in the country, capturing the #1 spot on the New York Times hard cover advice, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Publisher's Weekly lists. The latest Bookscan numbers (which represent approximately 75% of overall trade sales) are: 
   South Beach Diet 63,652; 
   Kate Remembered 50,571; 
   Treason 33,033;
   Living History 31,267.

The book's publisher, Rodale, currently has 1.2 million copies in print. It was published on April 2, 2003 and the initial shipment was 25,000 copies. The South Beach Diet made the NYT Bestseller list the first week of publication and has been #1 for the last five consecutive weeks. Out of the 15 weeks it has been on the list, the book has appeared at #1 seven times.

The South Beach Diet is Dr. Agatston's first book. He is a leading cardioligst who has written articles for more than 100 scientific publications. His pioneering work in noninvasive cardiac imaging has resulted in computerized tomography scanning methods and measures that bear his name: the Agatston Score and the Agatston Method, which are used for screening coronary calcium, are recognized worldwide.
